After reading "How to Tame a Wild Tongue", answer the following questions on your blog:

What is Said?
This text speak about a mexican teenagers who immigrate to america and she try to learn english.
When she speak in english she keeps her spanish accent.


What themes does the text explore?
This texte explore many themes, those that come up most are: the shame, the integrity of the teenager and culture shock.The shame because of her spanish accent when she speak english .


Who are the characters?
The characters are the narrator ,her brother carito and her mother .


What is the conflict?
The conflict of this story is the cultural shock between spanish and american language;with  the repression of the spanish language of the point of vue of our narrator.



What is the setting?
The setting took place in San francisco.


What passages or lines stand out to you?
The passages that stand out to me are the following:"Pocho,cultural traitor,you re speaking the oppressor's language by speaking english,you're ruinning the Spanish language,"I have been accused by various latinos and latinas".


What is the structure of the text?
The text is separated by long part that follow a story .Every part is like a chronological order .The beginning is when the narrator is at  school and  for finish when the narrator is teaching. Every part is separted by a citation .


Who is the storyteller (narrator)?
The narrator is a woman her name is gloria Anzaldua.



What do you notice about the language/word choices?
In every paragraphs the author choice to precise some part in spanish. The author wanted to be picky about the fact of shame by using words hard, like pocho or "being caught speaking spanish ".


What literary devices does the author use?
The autor use symbolism and metaphor."language is a homeland"

I know that the author use singers and books  of 20 th century between 1950  and 1975 .

I know that the author is a woman her name is Gloria AnzaldĂșa.She is from Mexico,she moved to San Francisco during her high school and after she became an english teacher for spanish students .

in the text she talk about her food and her language she can share easyli cause of her brothers and her sisters .


Have you had any experiences that connect to this story?
yes the day I pass my test for my visa the gentleman asked my questions and I have answered in french so he told me that I had to make an effort to speak English cause in america you speak english .


What about your identity/culture help you understand this text OR prevent you from understanding it?
it prevent me to understanding it .

Yes come i was in the same situation but from a differente country but i can understand this story because
